Tankless Water Heater Installation
Going tankless is a bigger job than swapping a tank, and doing it right is what makes it last. A gas tankless unit usually needs a larger gas supply than an old tank, new venting and sometimes a new spot on the wall. We look at all of it during the free on-site estimate, so the price you approve covers the full job.
- Sizing the unit to how many showers and appliances run at once
- Upgrading the gas line when the old one is too small
- Venting, condensate lines and isolation valves for future service
- Testing flow, temperature and every connection before we leave
Is Tankless Right for You?
Tankless units save space and give steady hot water, but they cost more up front than a tank. If you’re weighing the two, read our guide to tank vs. tankless water heaters in Sacramento, or ask us during your estimate. We also install and service standard tank water heaters, so you’ll get a straight answer either way.
Tankless Water Heater Repair
Tankless units are reliable, but they do need service. These are the problems we see most:
- Error codes on the display, or the unit shutting down mid-shower
- Water that swings between hot and cold
- Hot water that never gets hot enough
- Low hot water flow at the fixtures
- Ignition failure or a burner that won’t light
What We Check
We start with the error code, then check gas pressure, venting, inlet filters, flow sensors and the heat exchanger. Often the fix is a clogged filter or scale buildup, not a failed part. When a part does need replacing, we’ll explain it and give you the price before we do the work.
Tankless Descaling and Flushing
Hard water is common across the Sacramento region. The minerals it carries coat the inside of a tankless heat exchanger, which cuts efficiency and can trigger error codes or overheating. Most manufacturers recommend a flush about once a year, and it matters even more in hard water.
During a descaling service, we isolate the unit, run a descaling solution through the heat exchanger, clean the inlet filter and check the unit’s operation. If scale keeps coming back fast, a water softener can protect the tankless unit and the rest of your plumbing.
