Septic Services for Rural Sacramento County Homes
A septic system is a small wastewater treatment system on your own property. Wastewater flows from the house into the tank, where solids settle to the bottom and grease and scum float to the top. The clearer liquid in the middle flows out to the leach field and soaks into the soil.
When it’s cared for, a septic system can serve a home well for a long time. When it’s ignored, solids build up, lines clog and the leach field can fail. Regular service is far easier than fixing a failed system.
We work on septic systems across the rural parts of the county, including Wilton, Galt, Clarksburg, Hood and the edges of Elk Grove.
Pumping, Lid Locating and Inspections
Septic Tank Pumping
Pumping removes the sludge and scum that build up in the tank, and it’s the most important thing you can do to protect your system. Our septic tank pumping page covers how often to pump and what we check on every visit.
Locating the Lid
Plenty of homeowners don’t know where their tank is, especially after buying a home or when the lid is buried under soil and grass. We find the tank and the lid so it can be pumped and inspected, and we note where it is so the next service goes quicker.
Septic Inspections
An inspection looks at the condition of the tank, the inlet and outlet, the baffles, the sludge level and any signs of trouble in the leach field. It’s a good idea when you’re buying or selling a home on septic, when something seems off, or when it’s simply been a while.
Septic Tank Replacement and Leach Field Lines
Septic Tank Replacement
Older tanks can crack, rust through or settle over time. A failing tank can leak untreated wastewater into the soil or let groundwater in. When repair isn’t enough, we replace the tank and connect it properly to the house line and the leach field.
Leach Field Lines
The leach field does the final treatment, and it depends on lines that spread wastewater evenly through the soil. Roots, crushed pipe and solids that escaped an overfull tank can clog those lines. We repair and replace leach field lines to get the system draining the way it should. Clay-heavy soils in parts of the region drain slowly, which makes a healthy leach field even more important.
New Systems and Upgrades
Building on a rural lot, or replacing a system that’s past saving? Our septic system installation service covers new systems and upgrades from start to finish.
Signs Your Septic System Needs Service
A sewage backup into the house is an emergency, and we take emergency calls every day, Sundays included. For everything else, call us if you notice any of these:
- Slow drains or gurgling throughout the house
- Sewage odors in the yard or near the tank
- Wet, soggy ground or standing water over the leach field
- Unusually green, lush grass over the tank or field
- Sewage backing up into the lowest drains in the house
- Several years since the tank was last pumped, or no idea when it was
