Why a Sewer Camera Inspection Matters
Clearing a clog gets water moving, but it doesn’t tell you why the line clogged. If the cause is a root-filled joint or a cracked pipe, the clog will come back. A camera inspection answers that question.
Some companies use a cheap camera special to get in the door and then sell a big job. We don’t work that way. We run the camera when it helps you make a good decision, show you the footage and explain what it means in plain words. If the line looks good, we tell you that too.
What the Camera Shows
We feed a waterproof camera on a flexible cable into the line, usually through a cleanout. It sends live video back to a monitor, and a locator lets us mark the spot and depth of any problem from above ground. The camera can show:
- Tree roots growing through cracks or joints
- Cracked, broken or collapsed pipe
- Offset joints where sections have shifted apart
- Bellies, or low spots, where waste and water settle
- Grease, scale and buildup narrowing the pipe
- Corrosion inside older cast-iron pipe
- Objects stuck in the line
Pre-Purchase Sewer Scopes
A standard home inspection usually doesn’t look inside the sewer line, and sewer repairs can be one of the biggest surprises a new owner faces. A pre-purchase sewer scope shows the condition of the line before you close.
It’s especially worth doing on older homes in Sacramento neighborhoods built from the 1950s through the 1970s, where clay and cast-iron sewer lines are common, and on any home with large trees near the line. You get a clear picture of the pipe and, if there’s a problem, an estimate you can bring into your decision.
From Sewer Camera Inspection to Repair
Once we know what’s in the line, we lay out your options. A buildup problem may only need hydro jetting. A root problem may need the roots cleared and a repair at the bad joint. A badly damaged line may call for sewer line repair or replacement, and in many cases trenchless sewer repair can do that without trenching your yard.
You get a free estimate on site and a real price before any work starts. You approve it, then we do the work, test the line and close you out.
