What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency?
If water, sewage or gas is going where it shouldn’t, and it’s damaging your home or putting people at risk, it’s an emergency. These are the calls we treat as urgent.
Burst Pipes
A burst pipe can soak floors, walls and cabinets fast. In older Sacramento neighborhoods, many homes built in the 1950s through 1970s still have galvanized steel pipe that corrodes from the inside until it fails. We repair the break, check the pipe around it and talk to you honestly about repiping if the rest of the line is close behind.
Leaks in the Ceiling
A brown stain or drip from the ceiling usually means a supply line, drain or fixture above is leaking. We find the source, open only what we need to and make the repair. When the leak is hidden, our leak detection service pinpoints it without tearing up more than necessary.
Emergency Shut-Off: What to Do First
A few minutes of the right action can save thousands in damage. Here’s what to do while you wait for us:
- Shut off the water at the main valve. It’s usually near the front of the house, in the garage or in a box by the curb.
- For a single fixture, close the small shut-off valve under the sink or behind the toilet.
- Turn off the water heater if it’s leaking: the gas valve to “off” or “pilot” on gas units, or the breaker on electric units.
- Move valuables and electronics away from the water.
- If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.
Can’t Find Your Shut-Off?
Many homeowners don’t know where their main shut-off is until they need it. When we’re out, we’re glad to show you. If yours is stuck or broken, we can replace it during a regular repair visit so you’re ready next time.
Common Plumbing Emergencies We Handle
Water Heater Failures
A water heater that’s leaking from the tank, or a home with no hot water at all, is one of our most common emergency calls. We figure out whether it can be repaired or needs replacing and give you the price up front. See our water heater services for more.
Sewage Backups
Sewage coming up through a tub, shower or floor drain is a health hazard. Stop running water in the house and call us. We clear the blockage, then use a camera to find out why it happened, whether that’s tree roots, a collapsed pipe or a full septic tank, so it doesn’t keep coming back.
Gas Leaks
Once you’re safe and the gas is shut off, we find and repair the leak and pressure test the system before the gas goes back on. We handle all kinds of gas line repair, including buried lines from the meter.
Sunday and After-Hours Emergency Calls
Sunday Emergency Calls
Our regular hours are Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm. We’re closed for regular work on Sunday, but we take emergency calls every day, Sundays included. Call (916) 997-6370 and tell us what’s happening.
Honest Pricing, Even in an Emergency
An emergency is when people feel the most pressure, and we won’t take advantage of that. You still get an estimate and a real price before we start the repair. You can qualify for financing right from your estimate, and all of our work is guaranteed.
