Signs You Need Drain Cleaning
Most clogs give a warning before they turn into a mess. Catching them early usually means a simpler fix and less risk of water damage.
One clogged sink is usually a local problem. Several slow drains at once, or sewage coming up in the lowest drain in the house, points to the main line and should be looked at right away. We take emergency calls every day, Sundays included. Watch for:
- Water that drains slowly from a sink, tub or shower
- Gurgling sounds from drains or the toilet after you run water
- Bad smells coming up from the drains
- Water backing up into a tub or floor drain when the washer empties
- More than one fixture clogged at the same time
Drain Cleaning for Every Drain in Your Home
Kitchen, Bathroom, Laundry and Floor Drains
Kitchen sinks clog with grease, food scraps and coffee grounds. Bathroom sinks and showers collect hair, soap and toothpaste. Laundry drains fill with lint, and garage or floor drains catch dirt and debris. We pick the right tool for the line, from a hand auger on a small sink trap to a powered drain machine for longer runs, and clear the pipe without damaging it. If a disposal is part of the problem, we can handle garbage disposal repair on the same visit.
Clogged Toilets
A plunger fixes a lot of toilet clogs. When it doesn’t, the blockage may be stuck in the trap or farther down the line, often from wipes, paper towels or a small toy. We clear it, check the toilet for leaks at the base and the tank, and let you know if a part is worn. If a toilet clogs again and again, our toilet repair service can tell you whether the toilet or the line is to blame.
Main Line Clearing, Tree Roots and Cleanouts
Main Line Clearing
Your main sewer line carries every drain in the house out to the city sewer or your septic tank. When it clogs, water backs up into the lowest drains first, usually a tub, shower or floor drain. We clear main lines through a cleanout with a cable machine sized for the pipe. For heavy grease or buildup that a cable can’t fully remove, hydro jetting scours the pipe wall clean.
Tree Roots
Roots go looking for water, and a small crack or loose joint in an older sewer line is an open door. Many older Sacramento neighborhoods have clay or cast-iron sewer lines and mature trees, a common mix for root problems. We cut roots out of the line, and when they keep returning, a sewer camera inspection shows whether the pipe itself needs repair.
Cleanout Installation
A cleanout is a capped access point that lets us reach your main line without pulling a toilet or going up on the roof. Some older homes don’t have one, or it’s buried. Installing a cleanout makes every future drain call faster and cleaner, and it’s a smart add-on after a main line backup.
How We Handle Drain Cleaning Calls
We don’t advertise a teaser price that grows once the truck arrives. We come out, look at the problem and give you a free estimate on site. You approve the price before any work starts.
Then we clear the drain, run water through every affected fixture to make sure it flows the way it should, and walk you through what we found. If we see signs of a bigger problem, like a cracked line or a sagging pipe, we tell you plainly and explain your options. You decide what happens next.

Call 2 Brothers Plumbing
A clogged drain rarely fixes itself. The sooner it’s cleared, the less chance of water damage or a sewage backup. We’ve been in the trades since 1988, and we’d rather fix the cause once than come back for the same clog every month.
